Corvids (crows, ravens, jays, some nutcrackers) are amazing. You might like to see Fable the Raven.



Most wild animals take a tremendous amount of time and care, so I am pretty happy simply to live where they are. We have a pair of coyotes on our property, and they do a really good job being coyotes without me. And I think I enjoy them a lot more than if I had to make sure they were fed. But I really like having them around. We call them the estate managers. And the bobcats. We have (if the game camera is a good data point) one large male bobcat. The other night I heard a loud cat sound (hard to describe) and when I turned on the porch light, there he was sitting with his back to me enjoying the nocturnal view from the porch. He didn't dash off, just turned, looked at me and exited stage right. So cool.

We have little Screech Owls living next the house. They are pretty cool to watch. I don't think have enough bugs indoors to make them happy though.

I live alone and as such, enjoy a life with very few rules. I will slowly evolve into an ever more eccentric middle aged man. But I don’t want to be a creepy old man so to that end one rule I do follow is not living with wildlife at home. I live in my home. The wildlife lives outside of my home and it’s best for everyone.

We have Canada geese, ducks, squirrels, rabbits and the occasional coyote in my neighborhood near the local ponds. I’m not a birdwatcher but I’ve seen a few birds beyond the geese and robins I can identify.

Crows kind of scare me. I used to practice my cornering and sprints at this stadium parking lot. There were these 3 crows perched atop the lights that would stare at me the entire time. They were monstrous.

I would adopt a fox. And would probably play with its poofy tail way more than I should.

We're making progress, but it's not good enough quite yet. This is going to be a major spring focus before our current tenants move out and new ones move in.
