I think there is a 50:50 chance that Trump's Covid is made up just exactly for this reason.
Also, it will allow him to say that Covid is no big deal, despite one of every 1500 in US being dead with Covid.

It is hard to put anything past these evil twits but two things augur against it being a ruse - because of his monumental narcissism, "sick" = "weak" and he would never willingly allow that; he can't campaign for two weeks and his ego will shrivel up (but not die) without the adulation and rush his rallies give him.

Personally, I wish him a full recovery. He needs to die alone, broke and incarcerated, after losing the election.

I happened to be having blood drawn at the doc's just after getting the flu shot and I joked not to pull from that arm so the vaccine didn't drain out and the phlebotomist said that in her opinion the flu season won't be so bad because we're all taking precautions already.

you aren't in Australia, are you? I just drove from CA to MD and back--there is a pretty WIDE variation in who is taking precautions, so I'd think flu will be present in many areas. Hopefully ENOUGH individuals ARE continuing the hygiene precautions, which will definitely reduce the burden. I was just curious as to the vaccine rate in Australia because I still know several individuals who refuse to get flu shots...

I have an older customer that lives close by in South Bend, Indiana near Notre Dame University. We have been friends for years ever since I made him a bike frame. He likes to come by while I maintenance his bicycle and if we are aren't talking bicycles we talk politics. There is one house between his and Amy Barrett the Supreme Court justice nominee. Some of her kids raked the leaves in his lawn this fall. He is extremely cautious about Covid and always wears a mask even when riding on the bike trail. He is not a fan of trump or having his neighbor become one of the Supremes. After his neighbor's adventures in DC, I doubt he will be having her kids rake his lawn more this fall.

I can't count the number of cloying, adoring Melania Trump postings I have seen on social media from members of my former church congregation. That kind of sycophancy is a big part of the reason I no longer attend that church.

... are all that matters. McConnell, the GOP and Trump will be laser focused on getting her confirmed. Nothing else matters to them at this point. I will be surprised if we begin 2021 without "Justice Barrett" on the bench (but then five years ago I would have said the same thing about Donald fucking Trump actually getting elected president). It will be the capstone of McConnell's hopefully-soon-to-be-ended political career.
