Why are Thunderbolt 3 hard drives so expensive?

New tech and mainly only used for Macs. It'll come down in price like they always do. What are you doing that you need thunderbolt 3 speeds for an external hard drive?

Nothing. Just wondered why my laptop has 4 Thunderbolt 3 ports and the drives for those ports are so expensive.

I just use a USB-C drive. No complaints. Adapters for everything else drives me a bit nuts though.

Fast battery charging, multiple 4k monitor support, and external GPU support are mainly why they are thunderbolt 3.

Adapters are terrible.
