    Default Insurance (yawn), again...

I presently have home, auto, and umbrella policies with Travelers.

Too boring to go into detail, but I'm not super happy. Not claim related.

OK, what's the latest and greatest in insurance?

Is there a really good direct/online Insurance Co that's not simply an aggregator?

Is there a traditional company that's worth going through an agent?

Is there a really great agent in the greater Boston area that's worth talking to?

    TIA!

I have VC funds sponsoring my premiums by using Metromile for car insurance and Lemonade for renters, both end up being almost hald the price of competitors.

Luckily, I'm yet to claim against either, so can't tell you how good they are at paying back, though.

Any updates on the online startups like Lemonade? I'm thinking of shopping our homeowners policy around myself, but I don't want to end up penny wise and pound foolish.

Where I work uses Travelers and recently more than doubled our rates. We're shopping around. I use USAA but before that I used State Farm and they were pretty reasonable.

Since it's almost a year later, I'm guessing you already found something. But, if not, in the Boston area, we use Amica.
Home and auto, we've been happy with them, a couple claims, no hassles.

I'm guessing that between wildfires, hurricanes, and freak winter weather events, this might be a common situation over the next year.

I'd settle for rate doubling. I just got dropped by my insurance and the only two options were either triple or quadruple. And I have to do another inspection despite having just done an inspection in order to get the quotes. Insurance in Florida is a mess. And good luck to anyone with a house older than 10 years old (mine is 73). All that's just for homeowners. Hurricane and flood insurance are separate. It's a racket.
