Doppelgänger, zeitgeist, schadenfreude. They're the Kennedy Assassination, Space Shuttle Challenger Disaster, 9/11 of words for me. Schadenfreude.

Ambivalence is a good one as well.

Republicans (in the time of Coronavirus) are so weird.

What I fear, among other things, is the collapse of news media, the ones that seem to be giving us the real news/facts/situations(this does not include fox news, still praising trump).

And yes I am pissed with the fed admin's unbelievable incompetence handling this tragedy.

    Brian,

I watched the Gov. this morning and, like you, I thought the same thing. Thoughtful, to the point and information we could really use. This was the complete opposite of the drivel we have been fed at the pressers from Washington. Give me an hour of the Gov. and 2 mins of Washington everyday. I urge anyone that can find it to listen.

When did the elite Rand Paul get his test? He was seen at the Senate gym this morning. Why is that gym open and every gym I know of is closed? He's been doing business the last few days. Why was he out in public spreading the virus if he knew a test result was coming? I guess the whole senate is going to have to self quarantine.

I watched the first few minutes because I had a glimmering hope Cheeto Head would actually change coarse and take control from the perspective of mitigating spread like so many governors are not doing(looking at you Texas!!!!). Instead he went on with UPC codes and shipping manifest details like a fucking shipping clerk to a department head yet days ago he said "the government is not a shipping clerk". He fulfills his own denial. I don't even know what the fuck that means but it's true.

It’s been too late since November 8, 2016. It’s been a slow-motion train wreck ever since.

I'll add Florida to that list. I'm in Miami-Dade and our county mayor put us pretty much on lock down. You're allowed to go to essential businesses and exercise, but that's it. Everything is shut down. It's eerie and weird and I really hope it works. The rest of the state/country/world needs to do the same.

Luckily my wife and some smarties are running the show here, none of that crap. Our hospital is on lockdown for anything outside of true emergencies. no visitors. My wife had to call several patients today to explain their procedures would necessarily be delayed. She has signed many petitions and written many letters to the feds and state government providing data that we will be heavily hit, we are an unhealthy older population of a certain political disposition that tends to not enjoy the government or science, and we need help on resources like now, we have our first cases already. But you know, businesses arent that willing to just stop making money and help society, despite all of the bailouts and corporate niceties this country hands them. trumps a coward to the money, so he hasnt moved that dial yet, despite the lies he spouts.

meanwhile im cooking thanksgiving dinner for the kind folks at the hospital risking it so we can chat on the web about whos telling the truth and whos incompetent. its gonna be a rough ass week for them, and theres not a lot of good healthy food around to nourish them through that. whats a farmer gonna do?

‘Wartime President’? Trump Rewrites History in an Election Year - The New York Times

“He is counting on people being so traumatized on a day-to-day basis that they will forget his inaction,” said Douglas Brinkley, a professor of history at Rice University. “It’s better for him to be a wartime commander in chief than someone who, when the big crisis hit, misread it completely.”

That dog and pony show wasn't a press conference, it was just another bit of self-promotion and -indulgence by POtuS.

The amen chorus around him should all be wearing presidential kneepads where we can see them.

Good point. Pence and his wife should be under self quarantine, too. (Good place for him, now that I think about it.)
I'm told at work in the hospital that anyone who has enough symptoms to deserve a test should be isolated until the test is negative AND they are better.

Why should Paul and Pence be any different ???? And Rump for that matter.

Doing the test in asymptomatic people has a low "pretest probability" and should not be done unless you are doing research on incidence is asymptomatic people.
