Default What's a buzzword you love to hate?

"Curate" is one of mine. It's a fabulous word for the talentless, dumbed down, hype-without-substance, shallow generation.

"going forward" (oh, that's two words I guess).

"blah blah blah going forward...." so glad you stipulated that the thing we are discussing will not take place in the past.

Anytime the word unique has an adverb before it - I leave the room.

Beat me to it. Is that synchronicity?

I really dislike seeing leverage used as a verb.

I'm hyper-sensitive to the use of any noun as a verb. As a friend once astutely & sublimely pointed out "In corporate-speak any noun can be verbed."

The one that gets my goat more recently is "What's our exposure?" Sweet jesus, either call it "financial risk" or just say "how much money do we stand to lose?"

hopefully. it is about doing something with an optimistic frame of mind. and decimate. this does not mean extreme damage, but to reduce by ten per cent.

    Perhaps.
Jung coined the term to define phenomena that are linked by meaning, as opposed to cause-and-effect. Remember the Police songs?
Outside of this, I have no idea what it refers to. And neither does anyone else.

Album reviews that use the word “sonically”.

Really? I think an album review that doesn't address how the product actually sounds -- as a separate component from the music and its meaning [sic] -- is doing a disservice to the potential listener.

I am a little upset I overlooked this. Maybe it’s because no-one diarised a reminder for me.

I can’t tell you what that does to my blood pressure!
