I get the idea of decreasing exposure to the number of people during commute by cutting down the frequency by half, but in practical terms, it seems akin to being half pregnant.

You couldn’t make this shit up, but you also can’t buy toilet paper in an Australian supermarket.

Just trying to keep you all ahead of the curve...
Actually, you lot only started after the Japanese went into a frenzy. I'm actually embarrassed.

In Japan, theft is a rare occurrence, so things placed in public places aren't usually secured, for example, bog rolls in a public loo. Now, those toilet paper holders are secured with chains. Unfeckingbelievable.

I think toilet paper is one staple, above almost all else, that people fear to be without.

So my 10y old nephew in France is suspected of covid-19. He has all the symptoms but won't be tested as he is a kid. He has simply been asked to be quarantined at home. My sister and her husband will work from home but apparently his younger brother is not asked to stay home. How stupid can it be?

Without being sure of what kind of virus he got, I must admit I fear a bit for my parents who are in in their seventies and take care of my nephews every day after school. :|

    All,

If you have not done so recently, you should reach for Camus' The Plague from your bookshelf. It is an encouraging story about Promethean qualitative ethics.

Seen looking SW from my house at lunchtime today- it peaked at 12 visible trails.
I have heard that airlines are parking planes in the desert due to canceled routes, etc., and wonder if this is related. Can't recall ever having seen something like this.

    That or military coup.

edit: Checking FlightAware - looks like a lot of flights to Atlanta and LA might have occurred in the last hour or so.

    Who knows.
These were too high up to have just taken off from DCA, and also too high to be flying into IAD (which would be on a NW-bound track over my hood, not SW).
    Perhaps came out of BWI.

PS - 270+ people have read this thread. VOTE the poll. It is anonymous yo. My word on that.

On the matter of the length of time the bug persists on surfaces, the "up to 9 days" comes from this study done by Greifswald University. The English version of the paper is available here.
