Ahh, the boss. He's a state treasure here for sure.
My son has recently been dabbling in listening to records, and we got him a very basic record player. Local (Hoboken) music shop we found had a lot of old Bruce on vinyl, so we've been listening to some of the old stuff. Always good.
New Jesus Lizard album! I'm a big fan of Duane Denison's guitar playing and his use of "ugly" chords

Huh, I had not heard about that. I would definitely check that out. One of my favorite tunes -- okay, I'll be honest, the only tune I liked -- from Peter Gabriel's Scratch My Back album (where he covers other artists' songs) was his version of Talking Heads' "Listening Wind". Talking Heads tunes definitely can blossom with others' interpretations.
The last few days I discovered that Spotify separates Paul McCartney's solo stuff from Wings - which I guess makes sense (although in reality there's not a lot of difference?) Been listening to Wildlife and London Town - 2 albums I guess I vaguely knew of, but hadn't really listened to. They have their off moments (the sort of song that it feels like John Lennon could have improved?) but there are also some really great tracks.
It's not the years, honey. It's the mileage.
Jeremy Ledbetter Trio.
Larnell Lewis is right up there with Vinnie Colaiuta for a drummer with impeccable taste who always plays the right thing.
Nate Smith, Cory Wong, Ariel Posen, & Victor Wooten playing "Simon F-15" live in Montreal summer of 2023:
This one goes out to all of you framebuilders out there:

Coming down from a stressful time, and this is helping.
I saw Sturgill Simpson in DC this week and am still all abuzz.
No opening act, ~30 songs over 3 hours with no break.
Tight bluegrass riffs to rowdy Allman-esque extended jams, and everything in between. Just an all around fantastic show.
I’m half thinking of a solo trip to see him in Dublin or Belfast this winter.
