Nice! I've been a Jamie XX fan since living in my van in PDX and hearing a The XX song on OPB. "Gosh" is great, and funny enough, it came out the speakers at Venn Brewing in Minneapolis last night. :)

Now I'm drinking beer on the train entering Michigan, listening to Paul Jacobs, an artist Spotify introduced me to this morning after I played "Fuzz Jam" by The Lazy Eyes.



Edit: that video made me think of Raleigh Moncrief, so I have to hear this now.



Edit 2: I often mix up that songs name with Jonti's "Flesh of Morning", so now I'm listening to that.

Kurt Elling's set with Charlie Hunter and his horn players - yikes. I am going to be searching for his set list. Also buying some CDs. Lyrics and scat and killer killer improvisation right before our ears.

Ledisi was good, no slag on SPAC but the guys who do sound for the Sunday night series at the Agnes McDonald Music Haven in Schenectady Central Park are way better. Her voice and phrasing is really that good but got lost in the booming and echo. Didn't stop us from getting tix to see her sing the songs of Nina Simone with the Philly Orchestra!

Lincoln Center jazz orchestra with Wynton Marsalis was disappointing. Two words. Formulaic, reenactment.
