    Default Cycling blah

I've been in this funk for the past year now where I have ridden the road bike once this year and I haven't watched a single race of any kind this season. Decided to get fat and not be able to fit in most kits, which doesn't help in the motivation department.

What are some of the ways that you have gotten out of your funk?

The lack of jobs and money this year hasn't helped either.

My best edge has been when I remembered I'm not from this world I'm just visiting and they're lucky I'm around. When I remember that there's nothing I can't do. Find your edge, start by walking on the balls of your feet. Seriously.

Trying to remind myself that even on those days where I don't feel like riding, I rarely regret it once I'm out and I never regret it once I'm done. There's something to getting the body moving that helps kickstart those positive feelings.

Find people you enjoy riding with, especially if they are cute:)

I had that with two riding partners, and then they decided that a boyfriend and no riding was a better idea. Dumb!

I love riding on my own and trained on my own for many year, but I am finding that I do enjoy riding with others more recently.

How about doing something different than what you did before? As in, put some flat pedals on the bike, pick out a charity ride or other event where the conversations and donuts matter more than the speed, and ride casual.

Ride dirt: you'll get more satisfaction in less time plus it's more beautiful than road. Road cycling is a grind when you don't have form. The gains require hours and hours on the road whereas off-road is more relaxed with more stopping but you still get fitness gains.

Grind some gravel and try riding without a gps or any distraction for awhile. Get lost.

Same problems for me, related to cars/zoning & real estate development in our area/and having little kiddos ... keep shaving your legs, it helps me at least not to feel both fat and hairy. Also, lift weights. It feels just as good as the endurance-sport kinda tired and it will also help you live longer.

Also, especially what Holliscx said: ride dirt. Singlespeed MTBs are the new road for me. I'm not mad about it. You can get one for less than a parts group on your local CL.

Getting your website up will probably help that. The link in your signature doesn't work FYI.

Why do people feel the need to list all of their bikes in their signature?
