    Default It's the Shoes!

Who needs a performance obsessed tyrannical sadist leading your runners when you can just invent a shoe that makes them all faster?

    Dear Jorn,

Best to have both. Otherwise, those lazy, un-motivated elite runners will just slack by the 2-3% they get from the shoes for free and total world domination will slip from your grasp.

Besides the shoe company is in the business of Making Money. Selling shoes. The shoes. The lifestyle clothing.

Competition sponsorship and all that is just marketing.

    Best Regards,

    Will

I don't think the shoes should be legal in record-level competition, a la the swimsuits that most countries couldn't afford.

But if I were still able to run as an over-serious nobody, I'd give them a shot.

I don’t know what is worse... the fact that anybody cares, or that all of this data is public...

I don't get the fuss - it's technical progress; they're widely available and other major manufacturers appear to be following suit. No hidden motors here. The sub-2 hour marathon as a scripted event with these shoes, drafting, etc. devalues the way the barrier was broken but doesn't invalidate it.

No problem, except for the sadist. This technology created measurable across the board success, which just makes the Oregon Project just seem like so much ego-driven stupidity - by both the psycho coach and members of the executive class who love that crap.

    More good shoe design.

Jorn - we're in complete agreement; it's a 'so what' accomplishment given that the shoes and a highly calculated approach account for the result. And not all members of the 'executive class' love that crap, including the one sitting behind this keyboard.
