Nope, not going to happen. Can you stand the Cayenne ? I can't. And we are talking about $3K cars in this thread. While I have to admit that in a couple of days prices are slowly creeping up to $5K :)

If it was me, for a $3K bike-hauling rig that I wanted to be basically safe and dependable? Minivan all day long.

Yeah I did look at some of them too. Not sure they are more dependable than truck. Looking a 2WD trucks mostly.

I'm buying the E500 Wagon from Lynn.
Plus $200 worth of leather cleaner!
GO!

Re: $3000 car challenge bay area
If you weren't riding XL bikes I would have said Honda Fit. Maybe it could still work without removing the wheel when leaving the passenger seat folded. Dropper posts have made ingress/eggress of large bike inside cars much easier than in the past.

4 pages. For the record I'm predicting 15 pages and he gets a lease.

He would be better using Lyft (or UBER) than any of these options.

Back the truck up...what's wrong with the SeaSucker rack you have?
I'm kind of have the view that all cars are a pain in the arse to own, and one that you are already planning to only use a few times a month would increase that tendency. It's almost certain not to work when you need it. Or you won't be able to find the keys. Or. Or.
Go Get. Some sort of Rental club thing like that would be my way forward. Course you could just put tyres on your car that make it car like!

A Chevy Astro/ GMC Safari is essentially a 2wd (or awd) truck, but you can lock your bike inside. I've got one in Berkeley you'd be welcome to test drive.

OK this is slightly embarrassing but there is nothing wrong with the Seasucker but the GT3 has a full wrap over the paint and the seersucker suction cups would lift it.

Yeah this is a little bit on the back of my mind in particular with a 200K miles car.

You actually need to use Uber XL for this. Which I have actually done a couple of times. Not ideal at all.

Isn't it ! The other issue is that I do not think I want to leave the GT3 at a trailhead.

Quite right too. How could you enjoy your leisure time riding your custom ti bike with a worry like that hanging over you?
Maybe you should be asking what car GT3 thieves drive

Solution is simple: remove the wrap.
This is dead weight anyway.

Re: $3000 car challenge bay area
Incorrect. A good wrap in addition to a ceramic coating can cost upwards of $5,000 and is worth it because it protects the paint on your car (i.e. GT3) which protects the car value which protects your money if you ever sell it. Ask yourself this question: What are the odds Lionel will sell that GT3 in the foreseeable future?
