Did a little "picking" with my oldest son today...Fred has run this local record shop for 40 years and boy do they go the extra mile when dealing with the younger kids...almost like a passing of the flame so to speak.

hey, how lucky can one man get.
Ok. But they're so dirty!
What are you using already?
It's better to prevent the records from getting too much dust and fluff in the first place.
Any decent record shop will sell you the plain plastic bags to keep the records in, and get better inner sleeve for your most played (or most beloved) records.
Other than that, I'm fine with a carbon brush, but I'll invest in one of those manual-spin washing machines, saw others on TNT-Audio as well.

Old news.
By now he's probably cleaned and listened to most of those.
GO!
david...I've been using this kit as my records are really in decent shape. The record store where we were picking has a few machines in the basement that function like the one in the 2nd link and I spotted a Spin-Clean MKII. The gent in the DYI video cannot possibly live with a woman, or she was visiting her Mother when the video was made.

Well yeah.
But it's also the truth. I bought a Big Star tribute album* on Record Store Day and it's still sitting on the TT, right where I left it after a single listen.

My turntable started acting up about 40 years ago.
I have two flannel-like cloths that were made for cleaning LP's and they work on 45's too.
One is beige and the other is light blue.
I was just getting ready to give the records to Goodwill.

hey, how lucky can one man get.
The record that, more than any other, changed my life.
From my list of the 15 records that changed my life, ten years ago when Facebook seemed an innocent platform for sharing with actual friends:
"5. The Clash - London Calling: I can’t overestimate the impact this had on me. I remember the first moment I heard it (Regina and I are late for class but with the just-released record finally in our possession, we rush to listen to just one song. We agree “Revolution Rock” sounds promising, so put the needle down on the last song on side 4. “Train in Vain” blows our minds – this is the Clash?) This record not only possessed me with its passion, mastery, and sheer joy, it opened my eyes to the history and expansiveness of rock & roll."
Regina (still a close friend after all these years) later gifted me with Pennie Smith's book of Clash photographs, brought home from her first trip to London.

I still mourn Joe.
GO!
It's been over 30 years since I was in the loop about LP-related accessories, but my vague recollection is that the fluid that shipped with a Parastat was just de-ionized water
...or maybe it was ionized water? Something done to the ions.
I've done the wood glue trick with great success. It is amazing how much dirt and grime is in those little grooves.
I picked up a vintage Kenwood receiver and some bookshelf speakers from an audio junkie friend of mine, for my youngest kid as Christmas present...nothing fancy, just reliable gear for a college kid who loves his music. This is my bud's mancave and current gear as he has been downsizing. His current showpiece is a 120wpc Sansui G-771 receiver in a rosewood case that was only available in the European market...it is pristine. Yes, those are JBL Century L-100's in mint condition that he bought as a college student in 1976...replaced the grilles as his wife didn't like the orange foam. Oh those wives.
