    Default ECM Casa V

This looks like a really nice machine, and Clive Coffee is selling it, so I expect it does what it should. But has anyone used one? I like the idea of getting machine plus grinder in the $1500 neighborhood.

My only reservation would be as a single boiler machine if you plan to make milk drinks, you may find yourself under powered or waiting for pressure on the steam wand. This may ro may not be an issue on this particular machine, but i have found it to be an issue on some single boiler home use machines.

    it looks lovely

Good point. Also seems to have preset shot volume. Have to read the fine print to see how adjustable things are.

I am sure since i bought a machine single boilers have come a long way, but my shop background means i wanna steam milk while a shot is dropping, which means 2 boilers, which means another 500 on the budget most likely. For straight shots ill bet this machine is legit. its too bad there's nowhere to go steam milk on one.

There also seem to be some things you have to do with a single boiler to switch back and forth to make sure the boiler doesn't get dry fired, etc.

this is most likely the machine i would buy myself today if i had to get a new one. these seem to be very nice machines, no things you dont need, just the very basics in a clean package. reviews i have read are positive.

Hey Jorn. I bought an ECM Electronika and couldn’t happier. I find their build quality a notch above other brands. I also like the idea of a German company showing the Italians they play well with others. One main reason I chose this machine was the double boiler. Frothing and pulling the shot simultaneously was a must. Come to find out, it isn’t. I’m perfectly happy doing the two separately. Let’s me mindlessly concentrate on one thing at a time.
That said, if you’re looking for a machine with a built in grinder, I’d go with a full auto unit. I had the Gaggia Accadamia for years and really enjoyed it. Breeze to set up and maintain.
    Good luck!
    Rick

If the process is more important than the result, you play. If the result is more important than the process, you work.
