    Default Columbus Zona S-bend chainstays

    Hey y'all,

I was thinking about using S-bend chainstays for my next frame project for CX & gravel use. Anyone here have experience using either the road or cross version of the Zona stays?
    Specifically I was wondering:
    1) Max tire size for road vs cross bend?
    2) Largest inner chainring size before needing to dent the DS side?
    3) Any perceivable difference in stiffness or feel compared to using dented straight stays?

The length I'm thinking of is in the 430-35 range.

    Thanks,
    Hansen Su

    Hi Hansen

I would recommend their triple bend chainstays ZON114OV47029 as they work pretty straight forward for 700x45mm clearance gravel tires with both 2x52/34 or 1x42 cranksets and have enough meat on the droput end and bb oval section for chainstay mounted disc brake forces with full realiabiity.

S-bend work ok as well, although you might need a slight denting for 42 chainrings on 700x45mm tires.

Anyway, there're no such things as "standard" fits to work for everything, each bike is a different world and you might have to make your own tweaks to make it up to your own preferences, "catalog" tubing (specially stays) are just a start point from where you can get closer to your own needs.

And always, measure twice, cut once.

1: Depends on crank & BB = go with "CX" or even the Zona "MTB"
    2: 34T
    4: No.
