Default Is there a perfect hoodie?

I'm in search of the perfect hoodie. I have/or have had most of the usual suspects .... American Giant, Patagonia, TNF, UA, Flint and Tinder ... but have yet to be fully satisfied.

For those for who whom a hoodie is critical apparel, what do you wear? Or do you consider a hoodie as a commodity, like flip flops on Kaui where only the tourists wear OluKai.

I have a merino lined Outlier hoodie that is pretty perfect. It’s full zip, has big hood, but not too big, it’s soft on the inside and pretty tough on the outside, I’d call it the best I’ve had.

I’m not sure if it’s still available though. And it’s pretty pricey like most of their stuff, I think it was like $180ish.

Found it, OUTLIER Merino Co/weight Zip Front Hoodie

Looks like it’s gone for now, but you can always call, sometimes they have one or two of seething but it’s not on the site.

For proper analysis I need more details. Is this an outer layer or mid layer ?

Depends on the use, I have a cashmere hoodie my wife bought me years ago that gets better each year for casual wear. I go through athletic ones in a year or two, then replace.

Yes. Both. Not looking for something technical, per se. Looking for Colorado chic. But more Leadville than Boulder.

Ask the experts - post this on Facebook or ask around at the local nursey school, play ground, food court at the mall, is Orange Julius still around, dreaming of the rolling hot dogs

The perfect hoodie can be found-in the trash.

Hoodies are for thugs, punks, and hipsters.

    Zip or pullover?

I have 2 that see 90% of my jacket wear days. I'm not sure that either would qualify as (Leadville) CO chic, though. One is a Sport-Tek brand (Sport-Tek - Product Details - Mens/Adult / Sweatshirts & Fleece - ST238) which is one of those companies that mainly sells to folks needing promotional apparel. Light, 3-season type deal. Thin, but comfy. The other is my Dickies hoodie (Black Jacket | Fleece Hoodie | Dickies). I can live in either one of these. The Dickies one is more than I'd ever really pay for a hoodie, but I got it on sale, so...I could sorta justify it.

For me a perfect hoodie is cheap and replaceable. Wearable anywhere for any type of outing or work. Both of these satisfy those requirements.

Carhartt would be a close 3rd.

Outlier ones are definitely more now than what Justin paid long ago. Spending a lot - I'd go for anything from Outlier.

I have a Myles hoodie w/ storm cotton that's nice, but the wrists are a little too tight (when you wear a timepiece any thicker than something meant for black-tie).

My go-to is an Arcteryx Atom SL though ... I wear it for everything between 45 and 70 degrees.

I'm a fan of the Topo Designs Fleece Jacket, but it is more of an outer layer: Fleece Hoodie - Men's I Topo Designs Super warm and well made.

I actually really like North Face fleece hoodies. Warm, comfortable and cheap enough you will wear it doing everything. This one I have two of: MEN’S CANYONLANDS HOODIE | United States You can wear them around town and on the bike.

And I got this Mountain Hardwear Monkey Man last year and wore it riding, running and around the house way too much: Access Denied A bit more tech looking in the pic than in real life.

    Cheers,
    -Joe
