Default ZWIFT > VS Zwifters post your start times....

Last year we had some fun on Thursdays. This winter let's simply post start times / course and go for it.
Saturday Nov 17 @ 12:30 pm / New York (choose the "Everything Bagel Route) >> Add VSalon or NFS to your name so we can keep track of each other. I'll line up at the S/F or where ever I get dropped into the game and I'll group message intention to giddyup. I'm NOT riding hard infact it is a small ring ride so to speak. I'll keep W/KG around 2.5 or less esp. during warm up. Sound boring? Great, join me.

Interested in joining these but not today. The ice/snow is off the roads and it is above 15 degrees so it is good enough to go outside. There is plenty of Zwift coming over the next several months...

    Let's give this a shot.

Below, I'll paste Bwheels instructions for hacking Zwift. In addition, I will paste the first four lines of my "prefs.xml" file so you can copy it.
This mod. will force Zwift to drop you into the Watopia game instead of the normally scheduled London courses.

Same deal as before please add Vsalon or NFS to your last name.
    Start time is 9am est.
    Course: "Mountain 8"
Pace start at 1.5 w/kg and build slowly to a boring 2.5'ish.
Use messaging to indicate if the pace needs adjusting.

    How to hack Zwift:
You have a prefs.xml file in your Zwift user directory (which is in your Documents/Zwift directory on PC/Mac). Open this file in a text editor like Wordpad and simply add one of the following tags to force Zwift to place you in Watopia, Richmond, London, or Innsbruck.
    To ride Watopia, add: <WORLD>1</WORLD>
    To ride Richmond, add: <WORLD>2</WORLD>
    To ride London, add:<WORLD>3</WORLD>
    To ride New York, add:<WORLD>4</WORLD>
    To ride Innsbruck, add: <WORLD>5</WORLD>

Too Tall's "prefs.xml" file (first four lines)

    <ZWIFT>
    <WORLD>1</WORLD>

My KICKR will arrive on Saturday so I'll be there soon. I'm an excellent draft.

Finally got in a ride on Zwift yesterday, bit of a shakedown cruise.
I'll be up for low w/kg stuff for awhile. Fitness is hiding somewhere and needs to be found.

I got 56 minutes around the Central Parkish loop this evening. I've got all the sensors reading including the Schosche HRM. I had issues with the ANT dropping out with the laptop so I used an long USB cord and put the sensor back near the back end and that solved it. The new KICKR is so quiet, now that UT bearing I've suspected can be felt and heard. I'll swap it out tomorrow. Putting an Ultegra/XT 11 chain on my otherwise Chorus 11 drivetrain works well with the 11-28 included cassette.

If you’re out of shape you can weight dope.

I’ve got 2 rides on my new kickr on zwift and for the first time in years I can ride s trainer.

It keeps my attention, I can choose to chase or get passed. It is odd how the speed works on the climb, I'm in a 39/21 spinning 80 rpm and it says I'm doing 5mph. I think I need to do something with the KICKR.

I wouldn't try to reconcile any gearing/speed knowledge you have from real riding to zwift riding....if that is what you are referring to.

You can do the kickr coast down calibration every once and a while. As long as you aren't moving it around or turning it off and on the calibrations stick for a while.

What Brian said. Every now and than I'll calibrate and check for software updates.

Weight doping is a thing. We used it effectively last year when a few of us were training as a group. The understanding is to use it but don't abuse (us) it.

I'm getting on the silly thing this morning NLT 9 am if anyone is interested.

    Start: 9am EST
    Route: Everything Bagel
    Pace: yup (slow as shite ~ 2.5 w/kg. with a solid 10 min. warm up < 2.5)
Notes: add NFS or Vsalon to your name if you want to pace together
    Texting: not so much

I finally have my connectivity sorted, but haven't yet solved being asleep when the notice gets posted;-).

BTW based on last week's test, 2.5w/kg is my current FTP, so "easy" may be relative - just sayin;-)

We still doing the common jersey thing to help with the visuals?
