Default A little rust coming through...

    Hey y'all,

I've a got a steel top tube that's powder coated and there's a little bit of rust coming through in spots on both sides. Looks like it's kinda where my legs rub up against it every so often over the past 6 yrs. I was thinking of sanding the section down, maybe mask it off and cover it with spray paint in a stripe or panel-like pattern? Any advice on how to do this? What paint, abrasive paper to use?

    Thanks,
    Hansen

    Hansen,

If there is rust visible on your powder coated frame in small spots, there is much more hiding beneath. If the bike is of value to you, I would seriously consider stripping the frame and re-finishing with a primer base for future protection.

What Rody said. Been there done that. You have a date with paint stripper and a wire wheel.
