Default V-brake or canti bosses placement.

    Hello,

I would like to confirm if the 283mm is a right measure to put the canti or v-brake bosses for a 622mm rim bike.

According to Shimano manual (below) this is the right measure, but in a real world you can find bicycles with bosses placed around 290mm.

Also, when asked PAUL components they said that bosses should be placed 25mm below rim center for their brakes.

I would really appreciatte some help here with a distance that works for "all" brakes.

    Thankyou very much!

283 is the number I have always used for a 700C wheel. That and the pivots at 80mm apart.
