Default Looking for some cheap nylon hiking / cargo shorts.

Years ago I got pair of super-inexpensive, no-name nylon cargo shorts (less than $10). I wasn’t sure if I’d like them, otherwise at that price I would have gotten more than just one pair.

As it turns out, they’re my most useful shorts for summer wear around the house or for a trip to the hardware store. I have some nice “real” North Face hiking shorts for “fancy” shorts social occasions or actual hiking, but I’d like to get some more cheapos for weekends around the house.

I’ve been looking around but just can’t seem to find anything close. Anyone know where I might look for that sort of thing. (Inseam ~ 8”) I don’t need / use the “cargo pockets” on the legs, but so many of these have them, so I’m willing to get that, if I have to.

    TIA

not cheap ($55) but will last at least 4-5 years, I keep a pair in my cycling bag to change for the car ride home. Another pair is used for your exact stated purpose - around the house, yard work, short trips, hikes and a quick jump into the pool/lake.

Pockets are much deeper in the new version - not a fan as the items site too low

Eastern Mountain Sports is a less expensive alternative to the chi-chi brands. They are constantly sending me e-mails with sales, so you might score a good deal. I like their stuff because as an underdog in the brand name wars, I go for the underdog.

I used to get these water shorts from BJ's wholesale store for like $9 US. Folded up and stored in their own back pocket. Moved away from that area and haven't seen them since.

I'm sure whatever you'd get from Sierra Trading Post would be fine: Men's Hiking Shorts or Women's Hiking Shorts & Capris
