Default As a nearly lifelong GA resident...

...last nights game was predictable. We're used to this, at least we should be. I grew up watching the Braves go the world series again, and again, and again, and only winning it once. I'm not a football fan, but I watched last nights game 'cause I knew it would be a good game, and it was. But...we should have all known how it was going to end!

And football fans crack up me.

"We played well" - no, you sat on your couch. They played well.

"Georgia was the better team" - no they weren't, they LOST. They got beat by a freshman who hasn't hardly played all season apparently.

On the local radio this morning one of the DJs was whining about Saban, how he hates him, he has "no loyalty to the kids. He has his QB who's been winning games for him all season and they sat him out in the last half and sub'd in a freshman!" - YEAH, AND IT WAS THE RIGHT THING TO DO OBVIOUSLY. Sabans job is lead the team to a win. That's what he did.

The same folks who like to call people 'snowflakes' sure act like snowflakes when it comes to their favorite team.

All that said, it was a fun game to watch, and I hated to see GA lose it like that. I also hated it for the AL kicker who missed what should have been the game winning field goal - I mean, tied game, a few seconds left on the clock, millions of people watching, national championship title on the line, and it all comes down to you and this kick - NO PRESSURE!

Agreed, great game. Hate Saban all you want, that guy gets it done. That poor kicker, so much pressure for a kid.

One of the announcers made the comment that it's not easy to adjust from playing on real grass field to those synthetic surfaces, which makes sense. I think both kicks he missed his 'planted' foot slipped just a bit further than he's used to, causing him to hook it.

What is amazing though is the number of top talent kids Alabama has on their bench. Most pro teams would give their corporate nuts for a bench like that. Sagan can just keep turning around and pointing at someone who was the number 1 player for his position in high school. He never seems to run out of them. Two freshman quarterbacks who can throw the ball like that? Incredible. Of course there are no salaries let alone salary caps in college sports.

One of the things I hate about college ball is where they compile all the games each team has played against each other through history and then suggest some sort of pattern-based prediction on who is going to win this one. NO ONE IS THE SAME ON EITHER TEAM! EVER! NOT EVEN THE COACHES! NO ONE!

My Dad sent me this site and if you have some time to burn, check out the stats per school. It looks likes Bama has placed quite a few players in the NFL of course. Too bad the NFL doesn't subsidized the cost of the programs, as only a few of the schools such Bama and The Ohio State earn a profit.

I remember visiting THE Ohio State University when I was a freshman at a nearby college. My first impression was that it was like a Heironymous Bosch painting come to life.

I went to The Evergreen State College. The definite article is in the name and everything. But no football team.
