I'm currently in Brownsville, TX so I'm looking at this storm intently. It's intensifying quickly and moving slowly.
Hoping my brother-ens in Corpus Christi and areas affected are well prepared and kept safe.

boss man just finished remodeling his new house in Rockport. he's not stoked that he had to get down there and board it up already.

Houston checking in here. We're prepped for a weekend indoors. Hopefully Harvey scoots out of the way and doesn't sit there and dump on us for too long.
All the stars up in the sky may not be shining for Texas. Y'all be safe. I'm declaring Casa TT sanctuary if anyone wants to vamanos for a few days just be nice to my dog.
V is a good place to vent, find resources and say you are ok. That is a moose of a storm.

Stay safe everyone. And like TT said, keep us posted as things progress and let us know if you need anything.
We enjoyed the first of our fridge-clearing meals tonight.
I'm really not digging this new jog to the east.

I'm really worried this one's gonna be no joke and a lot of people are going to be caught out unawares.
my name is Matt
Many thanks, Dustin. I think Houston is outside of the area of immediate danger. I know my neighborhood was okay in Allison, so hopefully we do okay for Harvey. The folks down in the Corpus to Matagorda area are the ones who need the good vibes sent their way.
The rain has already started to hit here, but so far it's nothing worse than a normal rainfall event.
Defspace, it must be falling between us.
Nothing noteworthy here in Brownsville.
Hoping for the best in areas between!

Rockport got it bad. Saw video of a boat storage place 2mi from boss man's house and it's shredded.

Multiple coworkers bought/built places in Port A/Rockport in the past year.... Rough welcome to ownership of beach property.
Down south for a family event and all the hotels are full of folks who fled Harvey.

Starting to get concerned about our Houston folks. I've read 24" already. And it's not stopping.

I'm doing okay over here. Miraculously, local drainage seems to be keeping up with things in my neighborhood. We have not lost any utility services. The cabin fever is the worst of it. We are very, very lucky. People I know have lost their homes, pets, and cars.
Fingers crossed that the worst of it is behind us. There are going to be a lot of people who really need a lot of help. Harvey is no joke.
Glad you're ok, defspace, and thanks for the update. This is hard to watch. Anyone who's been through a bad hurricane knows just how damaging and disruptive it can be. I hope things stay ok by you and that everybody else makes it through ok.

Houston is happening just like the forecasters said it would. My kid brother is in Bellaire and flood waters are rising in his living room, and he has one of the higher-set homes in the neighborhood. This story is from just a few blocks away:
A Reporter’s Tale in Houston: When a Story Becomes Your Own Disaster - The New York Times
The forecasters are expecting a couple days of the storm just sitting and dumping more water, with a concern that it may continue its eastward jink and go back out to sea for a bit, pick up more water and a lot more speed, and then come right back to land again. The city is now advising residents to be sure you can escape from upper floors to the roof. Really? That's one step removed from the Rockport mayor who asked residents who weren't evacuating to write their name and social with a Sharpie on their arms.
I'm sure Alkek is a swimming pool right now. This photo was from some months ago with a storm spell that was relatively mundane.

Just got an update from family members in Houston - it's not good.
Relentless flooding. Streets impassable. And forecasters calling for more.
The images coming out of the area are dumbfounding.
Thoughts and prayers go out to everyone!
