    Default Rotisserie??

I picked up a Weber Kettle a few weeks ago and am eyeing the rotisserie. I have two competing thoughts tho, part of me thinks it would be awesome, part of me says it's just another do-dad to spend money on, and just another thing to maintain, clean, store, etc and I can already crank out great food without it.

Anyone have a rotisserie? Would you buy it again?

I have one for my gas grill. It is another thing. Cleaning isn't that difficult.

You can get great results with it, but in the final analysis, it really matters if you are going to do a lot of stuff on the spit. I have done leg of lamb and this Filipino pork belly thing called lechon liempo. Good results.

I have a rotisserie. I have probably used it half a dozen times in the 10 years I have owned it.

Frankly I think it is a pain in the ass, no matter how hard you try to get the thing set up right it is inevitably not, and you have to screw around with it.

I find just putting the food on the grill, or in a rack on the grill gives a lot better results with a lot less screwing around.

I have a rotisserie attachment one for my gas grill which has an infra-red ceramic side burner. It is a slow process to get good results but worth the effort when it comes out right. I've had best success with pork shoulder, chickens and duck. Slow cooked it gets really tender inside, crispy on the outside.

I've got a weber kettle right now (22.5"), with plans to get a weber smokey mountain smoker (hopefully they'll go on sale around the 4th?). For the smoker I really don't *need* the larger 22.5" model, the 18" is more than big enough (it's got two racks). But, with the 22.5" I could get a rotisserie that fits both the kettle and the smoker. But again...not sure I really need that.

Why put a rotisserie in a smoker?

I normally do a large cut on rotisserie instead of doing smaller steaks. Its more my thing.

We just bought a new Weber LP grille to replace our 20 year old Weber. I bought the rotisserie.
