    Default BRUNCH - favorite plates?

Brunch - what a fantastic meal. An excuse to indulge and have creative, boozy cocktails mid morning. Big fan.

This year we are having Easter at my place and doing brunch, as opposed to a big dinner we traditionally do.

We've got a spiral ham on the docket, but are going to do a bunch of small plates for throughout the morning.

What are your favorite brunch ideas??

I have seen chicken and waffles done as small plates before where wings or legs were served with quarter waffles. Biscuits and gravy is also always great. Some vegetable hash with potatoes, peppers, etc.

My favorite food before noon is empanadas. Filled with eggs early in the morning and filled with meat as it gets closer to noon.

Brunch at my house is most often some braised greens (often with maple syrup and soy sauce), sweet potato hash, poached eggs, maybe some avocado, maybe some yogurt sauce.

But that's not what you're looking for when serving a big group. I'd make this: Membrillo and Stilton quiche I Ottolenghi recipes. I've made it a few times for dinner, and it's awesome every time.

At this time of year, I'd also get some wild ramps, slice thinly, mix with fresh chèvre, spread on toast (sourdough is my preference) sprinkle some fancy salt on top.

The key here is neither dish requires you to take too much time away from your guests or your cocktail.

Buckwheat crepes (make a big stack...), mix of seasonal fillings savory and sweet, toppings to match and contrast... Let folks assemble and plate what they like...

Here's tomorrow's menu...about 20-23 swarming locusts (er I mean Mrs. RW's family) are coming over for Easter brunch...should be interesting as usual. I'll be outside grilling the lamb kebobs and the kielbasa, where I can escape the crowd noise for a while.

    RW,
See my reply in the other thread and remove peaceful. Still sounds like a great gathering.
