I think that most people worry about promotion over whether that they can do their perspective job to the best of their abilities. One would think most people would be embarrassed to be promoted above their knowledge always living with the fact that they will one day be found out.

Too many people are blind to their limitations; they just see the money and/or the power.

One would have hoped but, alas, it's not what I've observed. My observation is that it's the best cheerleaders that generally get promoted.
