    Default great victory

for the last week there has been a giant horsefly buzzing around in my house.

I follow him relentlessly with a rolled up newspaper trying to hasten his demise...
he taunts me by never landing and if he does he lands for 1/4 of a second...
moving away even as I pull back the newspaper to strike...
    buzzing around
    buzzing around...

this morning I am sitting in a chair reading the paper...
    buzzing returns..
I wonder how long do flies actually live anyway...

sitting in the chair in my family room...
    I look up,
    different approach.

I open the slider to the deck and he flies out within seconds.

    peace finally returns.

We had a fly get in a few weekends ago when I was coming in/out while grilling. He buzzed around for an few hours, I finally got him with a rolled up magazine. Mid air. He was flying from my left side to my right side at about eye level, I intercepted him and took him out of the sky. My largest triumph in a while.

My sister gave me one of these:

I use it around once of twice a week. Works well for spiders and various other beasties that don't realize that I'm going to release them outside (weather permitting).
