I realy like these bolt on guides. I think I will use them on upperside of DT and putting zip tie holders for the back of the frame.
As i have to drill app. 7mm hole, about 70mm from Ht and braze water bottle threads to it. What wall thicknes would be minimum on youre opinion?

    Teppo,

I've done loads of bolt on cable plates, mostly for Rohloff travel bike builds, here's what I'd suggest...

As you are drilling into the tube, you want to place the threaded boss in the thicker butted section in either the 8 o'clock or 4 o'clock position. This placement will avoid the highest torsionally stressed areas of the tube and provide greater longevity.

I would not place the boss near the head tube in any wall thickness less than .9mm, to do so creates a disproportionate area for flexion, with the boss being stiffer than the tube wall...cracks will form from the boss out the tube give enough time.

I like to split the butted section for boss placement 70/30 percent, leaving the longer undisturbed section of tube toward the head tube/bottom bracket and the shorter section of tubing toward the thinner butted section of tube.

    cheers,
