    Default A handmade heirloom laptop

    A really cool article about the making of the wood composite case for the Novena laptop. It's a great read and the guy does awesome work.

    At this point I lump the word heirloom in with artisanal and curated.
    An heirloom laptop, because everyone wants something that will be obsolete in a few years to hand down to their children.

    It's not anything like a traditional laptop. The Novena is an open hardware computer designed specifically for hardware hackers. I can't think of any other computer that has a built in FPGA dev board. It's probably the most obsolete proof machine out there.

    well that was most of the evening gone.i started looking more at these diy computers, i would love to be able to make such computer or at least have a bitt more of an understanding of them. seems there is a similar world in computer building as there is in framebuilding !!
