They're in stock with Ritchey Europe.

About 8 (?) years ago I asked the Ritchey people at Interbike about making an 9/8th inch version of the downtube coupler for putting in a single-oversize lugged frame at the top tube (where an S&S coupler would go).

They said Grant at Rivendell had asked about the same thing. I asked about strength - was it strong enough to use on the top tube ?

They said it definitely was strong enough. But they had no plans to make such a thing.

But they did suggest this - all the angles on the couplers are something like 30 degrees and they suggested to simply turn a set on the lathe. Seriously.
And they told me the clamps were available if I looked hard enough online from hydraulic suppliers.

I was tempted, but I never did build a coupled frame.

Fast forward a few years and I did see Ritchey using the 10/8" downtube ones on the top tube of a Breakaway TANDEM frame he made. If it will work on a tandem it should work on a single.

But who and where would someone get the 9/8th compatible compression clamps from ? Maybe Ritchey was pulling my leg on that one ?
