    Hi David,
what I can offer is something like this:

    The other question is:
is there still a need to have the question marked dimension?

    David, what do you think?
You will remember, that this specific dimension was implemented in cause of your needs.

I use the question mark dimension and subtract the BB dimension as appropriate.

Am I doing something wrong? The last couple of downloads I can't see the executable file where as if I go back to .40 I can see it under the main folder.

I am sorry Manfred....lately Rattlecad has me feeling like a total dumbass. I had the same issues that Sean had and I still can't make this executable work. Because I am obviously doing something wrong. How do I install the latest version of Rattlecad?

    Me too...

When I download the zip, I can't find the install file. The Windows and Linux folders are empty. Mac folder has files.

Also, i notice in 3.4.01.65 when i unzipped, there was an application file, which i don't see in the unzipped latest version. Hope this helps.

Thanks again for such a useful tool!

Hmmm.....I just went back to the last link above and it now downloads a single executable file instead of the Zip. It seems to work fine. Is Is this looking into the folder structure already on the computer? I need to clean it all up as I now have lots of different versions floating around in different folders.

Edit: I removed all evidence of RattleCAD from my machine and the exe file above works as advertised.

    Thanks Manfred.

    Default rattleCAD 3.4.02.61/ 3.4.02.62

    Hi,

In case of large zip-files I splitted the exe-File from the content of the zip-File.

The exe-File is a StandAloneRuntime. That means, that this exe-File does not need any content of the zip-File.

    rattleCAD_3.4.02.62-win32-x86_64.exe Download rattleCAD from SourceForge.net

In this case you can store your rattleCAD_xxx.exe File where ever you want. Also on your USB-Stick and run rattleCAD from there.

    cheers.

Got it! Now it's installed but when I try to run it I get the following. When I close this, the application closes.

    Hi,

I suppose that there is a file named:

    _init_TemplateRoad.xml

    in your project directory.

if yes, try to delete or rename this file.

    cheers and let me know

    Yay! Back in business.

Thanks so much for a very useful tool. I'm off to make a donation and then to design #4 - a MTB/commuter for my 13 year old son.

By the way, I think someone wants you to add your name to your signature.

    Default rattleCAD 3D

I want to discuss a additional feature:

Do you see any benefits to get a 3D-Model?
    take a look here:
    large.png
    https://grabcad.com/library/rattlecad-offroadbike-1
    large.png
    https://grabcad.com/library/rattlecad-roadbike-1

    what benefits do you see?
    .. to you?
    .. to your customer?
    .. about design-decissions?
    .. ?

    cheers
    Manfred

I have thought about this in the past. It would help with getting the customer excited and maybe for builders with a bit less 3D visual ability. Unless it was really accurate with the details and gaps etc. then most builders probably wouldn't need it. I like it though and as a draftsman by day it appeals to me and my OCD about extra detail.

I'm a hobbyist and there's not really any value in 3d for me. I really just want dimensions I can build to.

One thing I have thought that would be helpful is having some "standard" dimensioned sizes for a few different bike types. Even if the dimensions only reflected a typical manufacturer's size range and the user could adjust from those dimensions, I think it would be helpful.

I only build for my family so I know my 'Wait List' consists of:
    - 8 year old needs a Small 26in MTB in 2 years
    - 13 year old needs a 54cm 'All Road' next summer (Seattle to Portland is a dream of mine and he'll need a bike to fulfill my dream!! :-) )
    - would like to build the 13yo a 27.5in MTB so he can join me riding on the trails
    - wife needs a Mixte 54cm for grocery bike
    - I need a 56cm race bike - not that i'm doing any racing any time soon but...

Other than for my wife and I, I can't really measure the future kids but i'm pretty sure they'll be within the range of standard sized bikes when they get to that size. Having those dimensions would allow me to build future bikes without fear that i'm guessing at the wrong reach or seat tube angle or whatever...

Anyway, it's a thought that I've had a couple times. Maybe that's not how bikes are 'fit' by the pros so, maybe i'm the only one who would like this.

My other option is to go to a bike shop and measure a 'Small 26in MTB' off the floor and duplicate that - which is awkward. :-)

Thanks again for a great tool!

I'll add to the wish list with my own.

I have not seen anywhere where I can turn off the dimensions I don't want. I don't use all of them and usually I export to dxf and clean up in Microstation redoing all the dimensions I want then print to full size.

Thanks heaps for the effort on programming. I'll be hitting the donate button soon.

There are some projects available at:
rattleCAD - Bicycle FrameBuilding CAD - Templates

and also in jour rattleCAD-Project directory.
Please scan for _template -> rattleCAD

if you delete this directory completely, rattleCAD will restore it with the newest templates :)

    cheers Manfred
