Default That Band You Wish You Could See Again:

I saw Sunny Day Real Estate open for Shudder to Think in 1993
I saw Hum open for Bush in 1995.
I saw Jawbreaker in April 1996.

    Never had a chance to see them again . . . .

Well.... Hum is on tour with Mineral + Failure this summer

    Hum is a start.

Who would you pay to see . . . even years later?

Well, since you said "again" I won't jump to fantasies of bands I never got to see. Four come to mind:

    1. The Replacements with Bob Stinson. nevermore.
    2. The Loud Family. nevermore.
    3. Vijay Iyer Trio
    4. Sleater-Kinney. asap, please!

    1. The Clash *sigh*

    2. Husker Du - possible although the polar ice caps will likely melt before that relationship thaws.

I saw Frank Zappa twice: Once in 1974, and once in 1977. Would love to see him again, in any ensemble. Since that's a rather morbid fantasy, I'll probably go see his son's ZPZ band sometime soon.

I saw Mark Isham in concert sometime around 1988 or '89, with a band that included Terry Bozzio on drums, David Torn on guitar, Mick Karn on bass, & Kurt Wortman on percussion. Really wish I'd been paying closer attention that night, but I was on an early date with the woman who eventually became my wife, so my memories of that show don't include much of the music. I'd love to see that band again...another morbid fantasy, what with Karn passing away from pancreatic cancer a couple years ago.

I used to go see Aimee Mann's pre-'Til Tuesday band, The Young Snakes, around Boston a lot in the early 80s, would love to hear them again.

Reunion tour about 4-5 years ago. David Thomas on vox, Richard Lloyd and Cheetah Chrome on guitars, original bass player (name escapes me at the moment), and young really good drummer. Richard Lloyd was on fire. One of the best shows I've ever seen, and I've seen literally thousands of sets by hundreds of bands.

If you have't gotten it, the reissue "The Day the Earth Met Rocket From the Tombs" from 10 or so years ago is a must have.

I didn't know they "reunited". Without Peter Laughner could it really be (for better or worse) RFTT?

I'm a major Pere Ubu fan (and a native Clevelander). There's a few RFTT songs on this excellent box:

For sure was not "authentic" in the sense of all original members, but Lloyd was an inspired choice to fill PL's huge shoes. Lloyd was good in the Television reunion shows too, but the RFTT material really let him rip in a way the uptight Television arrangements don't.

I like that Datapanic box, but the RFTT reissue's sole focus on that band really drives home how great they were.

Speaking of Pere Ubu and Rockets from the Tombs. I worked(during the 80s) with Scott Krauss who was one of the drummers for Pere Ubu at Record Revolution in downtown Cleveland. Good Days... Now I work with a young gent named Buddy Akita who is one
current guitar players in Rockets from the Tombs. Both are great guys.

"Jellyfish" is mine for the moment.

Shit, how do you narrow this down???

Jeremy Enigk, of Sunny Day played in Nashville a couple of weeks ago. Not Sunny, but oh Man did he kill it!

Short list: 400 years, StillLife, the Cure, Pixies, Inkwell, Blood for Blood, Mr. Bungle, and the one I never saw The Smiths, although I have seen morrissey a dozen times.
