Default OT: A picture my son took

Definitely off topic, but felt like posting this anyway!

The picture below was taken by my 12 year old mentally handicapped, autistic son. He used my wife's iPhone 6 to capture this. In the distance you will see Pikes Peak. He loves the Peak and loves to take pictures of it. The boy really does have a good eye!

This is one of those shots that I could look at a hundred times and see something new each time. Pro-level stuff. Good eye indeed.

Moved this to the OT forum...

Really great shot. Here's a slightly bigger version so you all can see some more of the details.

That's a pretty cool composition. I love the criss-crossing lines of the fence slats; horizon; cloud floor;dirt path...

    Thanks for sharing.

The dropped crossmember on the fence is a nice touch...it even kind of maybe tells a little story. Nice photo.

great shot! we occasionally put the Canon into the hands of out 7 year old who also has Autism. It's amazing what her eyes see through the viewfinder than we do.

Print 'em out! Tell me how much... I pay, you send. Seriously, tell the boy to go at it. I have been there several times, but this shot is a different level.

I have a radio guy who is...let's call him...a savant. As an engineer I always wonder if handicapped/autistic people like your son interpret the world in different angles/perspectives than I.

This seems to be the case. I also rewrote that about 7 times to make sure it didn't come across as offensive. Beautiful picture.

The iPhone camera is great I think because it is so tactile. And it has that giant viewfinder! Apple has refurbished iPod Touch models for about $150. I think they have the same or nearly the same camera as the phone models. Or I bet one of us here can dig up an unused model lingering in a drawer somewhere. My nephew found mine, otherwise I'd send it forthwith. Anyone with any interest in photography should have a camera. The best.

Thanks for all the great replies!

There is something with autism that let's them see "differently" than we do. They notice fine details and such we might overlook, unless we were to really think about it. Andrew will look at pictures and very quickly find the one he wants, even though they look the same to me.

I can definitely get this printed out. What size would folks want?

Jorn, I actually picked up an old iPhone 4 for him to use as an iPod, and he also uses it as a camera. I don't think he could deal with a "real" camera, but on the iPhone, he is able to see everything while also being able to zoom and such.

He loves the Peak and is always taking pics. I might have to see about putting up a site where folks could buy prints.....something to ponder.

    Again, thanks!!

I was going to say this, but didn't want to offend anyone. It'd be neat to see a collection of work, as seen through their eyes.
