I'm telling you, cricket caps. You'll have to do a little study (sport and geopolitics,) but it can mean a free cab ride.

When I was getting sunburned in Mexico I really understood this invention.

Christian, Is this what you had in mind?

I bought a big floppy outdoor hat last year, something like this:

It's great for hiking - keeps my head cool and provides great sun protection. But I wouldn't wear it on Newbury Street.

I like the idea of something like this:

Baseball caps are alright for many occasions, but a nicer hat will always be nicer.

Greg's hat looks cool. But he has the bulk now.

I ended up with a Stetson Madison cap and also got a Kangol 504 in ventair version for the sunny hot days... Very pleased with the fit / look / quality of both.

But off the bike a cycling cap looks ok until you’re about 13.

In winter a knitted hat is mandatory. I have an assortment of billed hats that work in a casual/weekend situation but could use some inspiration for a more formal occasion.

Stylewise : I rarely wear suits. Think polo (Fred Perry) or aloha shirts when the weather is 100% summer.

What we call a “Franse klak” (French cap) works in many situations but I’d like some extra zing compared to the style I recall from my grandfather…

As with everything regarding style, there’s no better place to ask than the Salon...
We will need to discuss your aloha shirts sometime.

This is a problem near and dear to my heart. It is crazy sunny in Colorado and I need to wear a hat. I'm just not that in to baseball hats though. So I have been on the hunt for a hat that is not a baseball hat but is not too nerdy.

I bought a Tilley hat, I asked my wife if it was too nerdy, her reply was "Well you are a nerd, so don't worry about it." So I have been wearing one lately and dig it. I totally look like a nerd.

As far as I can tell, wearing one of those is mainstream in CO.

If it looks right go with it. If you question if you can, then don't.

I am always searching for the "right" hat. I collect vintage fedoras and straw hats. Most relegated to farm work/gardening. Occasionally I will wear one out n bout.

But, the hats I wear most everyday are very simply welding hats. Only because I am in the shop and I need to run out for a second and no need to change. In the past couple of months I have had more people ask where I got that hat, or who makes them. They are terrible left over patterns with flowers and polka dots and even one with puppies. They are ridiculous, but apparently ladies like them. I was working at a pretty fancy salon last week and the 3 women there had a 20 min conversation about how awesome my hat was. They went so far as to ask me to try it on... I have a lady who makes them for $1 a piece and literally brings them to me by the garbage bag, always from her left over quilting fabric. Which means unicorns, pink, and last time Star Trek.

Optimo — The best hat made.. I like going to their shop and actually browsing. These are an investment though, just be forewarned. But they are made to the highest standard and will last as long as you do. All the classics are there as well. Playing around with having them make me a Cowboy hat.
