Or at least, I hope I did; I'm never to sure about Ticketmaster shenanigans until I'm holding the physical ticket in my hand.
Seeing the Stick Men, one of Tony Levin's projects, at the Van Dyck later on. I've seen them once before. I didn't think I would find it as interesting as I did. Cool stuff.

I’m looking for a couple of tickets to see John Prine and Margo Price at the Palace in Albany this weekend if anyone has some to sell.

Saw the American Acoustic tour show with the Punch Brothers, I'm With Her and Julian Lage last night. It was the first show of the run so there was a bit of working through the format, but all in all it was quite a wonderful show. They mixed it up quite a bit with many combinations and subsets of bands in addition to decent sets by each full group. New and old material including the wonderful "Comey's Waltz". Almost 3 total hours of brilliant music.

I wasn't done! Can't edit... anyway, didn't think I mentioned last night's ahead of time. Trio of Greg Howe, Stu Hamm and a drummer I didn't catch his name but was really good because he had to be to match the other two at that Van Dyck. Can't really describe it except technique was crazy and really really loud. "Let's make some noise" said Howe and they did.

Apologize for the slight thread drift (& rant), but godfcukingdammit I hate when I'm right about this sh!t!

Got my tickets to see KC two weeks ago. I'm holding the physical tix in my hand right now. They are the seats I requested, at the price I agreed to. All good, right?
Ooops, no, time for some Ticketmaster shenanigans!
I get an email today informing me that my tickets have been cancelled and my purchase price refunded!!!
    Da fuq?

I call up Ticketmaster and they confirm that yes indeed, my transaction was rescinded, purchase price refunded, and the tickets I'm currently in possession of are no longer valid for this event. AND THEY HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO EXPLANATION FOR WHY THIS HAPPENED!
Oh, and those seats are no longer available.

I am so fcuking pissed off I'm going to have an aneurysm.

I was (miraculously) able to order two replacement tickets in approximately the same area as the ones I'd originally chosen. But of course now the price has gone up $20 per ticket. :::angryface:::
I'll definitely be disputing this charge with my credit card company.

    Fuk you Ticketmaster.

The free shows in the park. Damn, they do a good job there. Last show of the season was a solo act Ahmed Alshaiba, self taught oud player opening for Yemen Blues. Yemen Blues was sort of a cross between blues, funk and mid eastern sounds all going on these crazy rampages. Their band leader Ravid Kahalani can really freaking sing not to mention he's a complete lunatic. I don't dance as a rule, and what I did wasn't actually dancing, per se, but I did get up and move around. That I did.

Did I mention the shows are free? We decided to help fund their renovations... a couple chairs and a dedication on the front of the stage still only works out to about $15 a show considering we've been going there 6 times a summer since we've lived where we do. Considering who we've seen there, it's a steal. Joey Alexander coming over from Norfolk, this little kid gets up there and just tears into this fiery jazz and I'm thinking wow, that kid can interpret and then he sort of says 'I wrote that' before he starts the second. A guy from Nigeria named Lagbaja with 15 or 20 people behind him at least a dozen of them on drums. Everybody following their own simple line when woven together makes your eyes roll back into your head. Anders Osborne raging through 'Ohio' at a time when it had come around again. Karen's expression when Michelle Shocked sang 'When I grow up I want to be an old woman'. It has become the definition of our summers.

Rusted Root at Hartwood Acres Summer concert series. Last one for the year...free and open to the public, we've been attending this series for the better part of 25 years. John Prine, Dixie Chicks, Great Big Sea, The Mavericks....all good stuff.
