    Default Front License Plates

Say you had a nice sports car and it didn't have a front plate mount. Would you play it safe and screw up it's beautiful nose by installing one? Or would you let it go until you get a warning? If my friend who is in this position where to mount a plate, any suggestions on which mounting bracket to use?

Does the local department allow for stick on vinyl plates? In Australia in some states they have smal version of the plate for said application.

Well what car is it? Every enthusiast car has an applicable car nut forum where there are plenty of other folks who have concocted alternative front plate mounts.

Also, when I lived in CT, cops would love to pull over young Navy guys and harass them about their illegal cars. Personally I'm too old to put a big "pull me over" flag out there...

I chose not to install a front plate on my 2005 S4 Avant, and got two $25 tickets over a six-year period. I simply paid them and never installed the front plate, then sold the car. FWIW, both tickets were written when my car was parked at a metered spot; the one speeding ticket I got in that time, the CHP moto cop either didn't notice or care that I had no front plate.

Some cars may be able to use a no-hole frame such as this one.

Don't run a plate unless it becomes a problem. It's the law here in Colorado, been pulled over a handful of times in a twenty year time span and never fined. Unless you cruise around blatantly breaking the law, you'll be okay.

Devlin, in the US you have to use the plates issued by your state. Some good advise and good options here.

    Thank you all.

$74 or something stupid like that in Cali for no front plate.

    My vanity isn't worth that.

No front plates in Florida! (Dancing banana .... ok just joking). I read an interview with Method Man when he lived in NY and had some nice MB w/o a front license plate. He paid several fines. Sounds like a hassle to me. Just move to a state that doesn't require them.

Pretty much the same here as well. The mini plates are issued by the Dept. of Transport so they are legal.
