Franco Chioccioli was leading the Giro overall in 1988 but had trouble and another rider took over the lead that day on the Gavia. Andy Hampsten kept the lead to the end of the Giro.

Nothing like bike races on snowy passes in the Alps!

I think these are pretty iconic cycling images.

I've always loved this photo. Partially because I built the wheel that's on the back of that bike.

2015 worlds 23rd st. final lap, Sagan was 5th wheel back. Greg van Amermaet attacks, Sagan matches and excels. Bassoon Hagen can just watch. This was the moment the train left the station and never came back (I happened to be the photographer and am Ok with the Camera - is this iconic, I dunno, but it sure did capture the moment).

^^^ What I have been wondering since World's is what would've happened if Cancellara had been in the race. Remember how he dropped Sagan at Flanders a few years ago on a climb very similar to this?

Is this iconic? Are you kidding? I'll give a hunnert bucks for the rights to this one!

Great picture - you can feel the pain. And I love how Sagan stayed in the pack until that moment.

I was 20 years old, in University, and my window to the sport I loved was Winning! Magazine.

And that Raleigh was my dream bike .....

    Still would love one.

Paris-Roubaix 2012. The audaciousness of attacking 50km from the finish, not to mention leaving a (future Roubaix winning) teammate behind, was pretty unbelievable. Boonen looking so stoic and Terpstra deep in the hurt locker. I think my favorite part, though, is that Boonen rides Roubaix without gloves and with single-wrapped tape.

That looks like two ply on the bars to me, but yes, he was a motor that year and the teammate was barely there the rest of that ride, basically a spare wheel carrier for as long as he could.
