Default Was: I'm 50... Now: "Vans: kids shoes for adults."

...and I bought these as a birthday present to myself. Basically the same shoes I had when I was 5. Even the same color. And I am pretty much just as jazzed about getting them as I was when I was 5. How am I even 50?

I was just thinking how I still like to ride my bike through mud puddles, and I'm 43.

Happy birthday! I started wearing vans when I was a kid and I've never stopped. They're still my go to for most any occasion. Nice choice!

Happy Birthday! Although they were a favorite as a child, I think these Vans are also more grown up than Chuck Taylors, for example. You get to re-live your youth and also act your age!

Happy birthday...go out and enjoy a bicycle ride!

Happy Birthday. since you are 50, you should have gone with black on black on black.

Happy Birthday! I just turned 40! My first pair of Vans in 1983 were black and white checkerboards with checkered sidewalls. So totally radical. Of course I wore them with Op t-shirts and Jamms shorts.

    I love my Vans.

One of the few companies that still makes the same product year after year. They're perfect and no amount of marketing will tell me otherwise. Blisters and lack of support included. Happy Birthday!!

Now get out there, jump a curb, lay down a thick skid and get those suckers dirty...

Lack of support?! They're perfect. After 30 years of wearing vans anything else just has too much support.

My go to are Authentics in either black on black on black or red and white. But I always keep a pair of those Old Skools or Half Cabs around for some variety.

Oh the Half Cabs... Loved those. I had a set like J44ke has as a kid in all black. I think they kind of ended like the Blues Brothers car did and I pretty much just walked out of them as they exploded into smithereens...

Work boots 80%, otherwise, it's vans baby. If I ever have to dress up, I got a special pair of "Sunday go to meeting" vans. My wife lets me wear them, I keeps one pair clean, and one pair we'll worn.

    Happy birthday, get RAD!

A mod should rename this thread, "Vans: kids shoes for adults."

I SO want a great pair of Vans to relive my childhood, but I am getting old and have Plantar Fasciitis, so it's orthotics and jogging shoes for me :(

Bummer, you got great shoes for your b'day!

You will exude youthfulness as you wear your vans to your colonoscopy appointment.

I'm getting a Zanconato. Steel lugged Belgian colors.
