I've never been a fan of the big black plastic pulleys for converting a bottom pull FD to a top pull on a cross bike. For the past six plus years I have been using sealed pulleys like this:
McMaster Carr part# 6384K343

I add a bronze bushing like this:
McMaster Carr part# 6338K311

Then I chuck the bearing into a little fixture I made and groove the outer race with a Dremel cutting wheel.

It isn't anything major or ground breaking but I think it looks better and works better. I have been using the same bearing for years with no problems with cable jumping the tracks or the bearing seizing up.

The only difference is I now use an M6 button head bolt. The end result is:
