    I mean, I love the bike stuff here of course, but I've picked up a coffee grinder and a camera (amongst other things, including many excellent kitchen tips) based on recommendations here. Have yet to be disappointed.

    It's the same process as in the oven.

    Preheat grill & dutch oven to 450-500
    Place dough in pan and replace lid - maintain constant temp for 30 minutes
    remove lid, continue baking until golden brown, up to 15 min. (I usually pull it around 7min.)

    The recipe we use:
    3 cups white flour
    1 3/4 tsp sea salt
    1/2 tsp active dry yeast
    1 1/2 cups room temperature water
    3/4 cup chopped fresh rosemary (optional)

    Mix ingredients and let sit 12-24 hours, cover with towel
    remove onto floured work surface and shape
    bake in pre-heated dutch oven

    No. The dough is fairly wet, and the lid contains the steam while baking.

    Doing bread on the grill is such a great idea. Makes bread in the summer suddenly possible without turning the whole house into an oven.

    Does material really matter for pot lids? Having copper match copper is pretty and all, but I can't imagine its properties having a real use in covering whatever you're cooking

    Talk to me about cast iron, how do you prep it? Rapeseed oil then baked 1hr in the oven?

    Clean it well. Remove any residual rust and or oils using soap and an abrasive pad.
    If it's in really poor repair, i.e. salvage, you can put it in the oven for a cleaning cycle prior to washing.
    Dry it well. A preheated oven can help with this step.
    Coat inside and out with oil of your choosing. I prefer shortening.
    Place in 350F oven for 1 hour.
    Turn off oven and leave pan in oven to cool.

    Cook bacon often.

    Clean when warm using water and the occasional salt scrub.



    Cast Iron is great. This lodge griddle/grill pan came from the local goodwill for the steep price of $7.
    After my Grandmother's daisy-o's it's my favorite non-enameled cast piece.

    Anything really. Burn it in the oven a few times or better yet make a batch of bacon. Rinse while still hot and wipe it out.

    This is a rack of pots and pans I depend on. If you held my feet to fire and asked me to choose just one it would be the deep cast iron pan. All my cast iron sees regular use, it is indispensable.

    Even saying bacon in a low voice in the same room as a pan will improve it's performance...

    If anyone can get lucky and get in on the Blu Skillet ironware runs of pans (https://www.bluskilletironware.com/the-pans/) hands down the best pan I've ever used. Follow the seasoning instructions and eggs slide off. Perfectly even heating and hold their heat really well without hot spots.

    Ah, I finally found the right thread. Their 10" French skillet arrived yesterday -- I clicked 'Buy' in the first second that the sale page popped back up. They were all gone 5 minutes later.

    It's blue. It's pretty. It's heavy. It's pretty heavy. Time for some fresh eggs...
