Yes, the Edge and Reynolds are two, but they're cross forks with lots of length,
like 395mm...and there aren't a lot of different rake options. The Edge cross fork
is very nice, it comes with 47mm of rake. I think the Reynolds is around on closeout,
it's discontinued, in all sizes, but 45mm rake ones are around if you look.

Never again. As much as I enjoy holding Richard's feet to the fire...if I were to do it over, I'd never build around a fork on a full rigid bike again. Not saying it's wrong for builders that do, God knows I did it plenty, but I wouldn't do it now.

It means they either used a fork I built or they could get their frame elsewhere.

Glad I did a search before I asked the same question..

The gentleman who is building my a second frame for me is more than willing to put a carbon fork on, he has one on one of his frames.

The last frame he built for me has a steel fork and rides like a dream...
But I would like to try carbon ala Dario

The builder in question built his first frame at 19. He is now 74 and has been quietly building all that time. There is no question about his craftsmanship and skill. He has built many, many frames and has a rock solid reputation

I'd like a lighter fork and enjoy the way the ride and think it could be great with a steel frame
But steel forks look better than bloated plastic...
Plus I could really do with losing 10lbs

50 years of experience versus a hunch. Hmm

why custom carbon frame builders does not make custom carbon forks?

Because you'd have to cut a new mold for everyone, maybe you could do it in aluminum instead of tool steel if they're only going to be used a few times, but still hugely expensive in development and machining.

You could do it tube-to-tube, but a Wound-Up is already not competitive and there's no way you're gonna beat them at an even smaller scale

Serotta went the furthest with it, with different layups available for tuning and all that jazz

but the investment in that was a major part of what sunk the company

Seven offers their own carbon forks, where they can customize the rake over a huge range with the same mold by changing the dropouts

I love my Hampsten Strada Bianca, but have to admit I'm not crazy about the look of the Seven 5e medium reach fork. It's just a bit clunky. Someone once described it as looking like painted elephant tusks. I wish it had straight blades. I'm really curious to have Zank or Seven or someone build a steel straight blade fork to fit the frame and see how it works. Would be nice to paint it to match the titanium, too. Can stainless steel be used for forks? That would be something worth considering, too.

With the following caveat, forwarded to me recently by a friend in the UK who is currently having a frame custom-built with Reynolds 953 main tubes:

"The finished bike needs to have 853 forks as Reynolds have recommended not putting a disc brake on a 953 fork as the tubing is too thin for the force that will be put through it."
