Why the pac boot? It is a perfect boot if you deal with lots of snow. I live on the side of a mountain 8500' above sea level, last night I got 1 foot of new snow in my driveway. So a boot that is high is a necessity. Pac boots are great as you can tuck your pants in them to keep the from getting covered in snow while digging your car out or walking the pups.

Even for snow biking the pac boot is great since you are routinely in very deep snow. Plus the warmth!

That said, I did buy a pair of the Vasque Arrowheads to check out. They might be better at shallower snow and maybe even snowshoeing. The Schnees though, they look perfect. I'll might get a pair of those for use during the uses above.

    Cheers,
    -Joe

So I still want a pair of pac boots for shoveling/driveway/letting the dogs out/etc . But for snowbiking and hiking the Vasque Arrowhead Ultradry is a hell of boot!

Thanks for recommendation on the Vasques Vertical_Doug and Dutchess!

"Long time listener, first time caller" here....first winter in Anchorage after enjoying 5 years on the semi-tropical island of Okinawa, Japan and for shoveling the driveway, walks with the dog and what not have been pleasantly pleased with a pair of BOGS -40 boots, picked 'em up for 70 bucks or so...they are high enough, warm enough and insulated enough that I'd wear them in the pits at a 'cross race, that's for sure.

I thought I'd update. I finally got another pair of pac boots for when I am shoveling/snow blowing and dog walking. I got Baffin Shackletons.

These are nuts. They are so warm it is mind boggling. The boot has about 1" of insulation all the way around and is so big they are not safe to drive in. However in single digits temp I have been out for hours and my toes did not go numb, that is rad.

I still like the arrowhead ultradry from Vasque for riding and snow shoeing. But these are baller pac boots.
