They've been talking about the heat in Australia, and obviously it is a problem, but this story actually sounds a little strange. I was wondering (since I know we have a few medical professionals here) if this sounded at all like hyponatremia. When I was in Arizona, a friend experience hyponatremia, and everyone, including doctors, initially diagnosed it as heat exhaustion. Only when they started adding up factors like body temperature etc. that didn't quite fit into the diagnosis did they realize they had better detach the IV and quickly change their course of treatment.

Just wondering then. My curiosity.
