In my car. Driving to and from work. The best is on days I don't work. I drive to 7-11 with exact change for my coffee refill. Pay on the in by just leaving it on the counter. Back in the car I cruise the same roads in a 4 or 5 mile radius (really just about 120 degrees of my radius). Been doing it for 15 or so years. Likely have burned 100s of gallons of gas.
For a few years my youngest son would get up on Sunday's and go with. Loved his company but longed for him to sleep in.
Weird but very needed.
Absolutely...., bulk of my rides are solo which provides the obvious opportunities..., however, there are those "pup" moments while either out for a walk or whilst observing him becoming one with his new front yard here in Portland. All 3 opportunities are highly prized. Crankiness ensues when schedule gets in the way....
Some years ago I did a fair amount of backpacking, and realized i'd never really been alone with myself for any period of time greater than some part of a day. So I loaded up my pack, threw in pen and paper, and headed for the Four Peaks area in the Mazatzal Mountains; figured two, maybe three days.
I came back the next day. I discovered I'm a poor conversationalist when trying to cover both sides, and that i'm not as deep as I'd thought.
And are we really alone when there is always "noise" at our fingertips? I guess I've come to find comfort in and that i can work around the noise. Although it's certainly nice to pause briefly once in a while.
No.
I do stop and take time with people on occasion, however.

Sometimes I'm alone even when I'm around other people.
