Default steel type for dummy axles, 1018?

1018 a good choice for dummy axels? How about dies for tubing rollers, I guessing harder steel.

    thanks, Brian

Not much stress on dummy axles. Only slightly more on bending rollers. Andy.

Just buy them from Don at Anvil bikes. By the time you get the material in and spend the time machining them you could have already been building frames with his. They are solid too, keyed on both sides!

As for the rollers I would probably use something like 4130 if steel is your thing.

buy your rollers from Swag off road in Oregon. He has more sizes in stock than you could think of in 4140 and a decent selection in Delrin now too.
The quality is top shelf and the price makes considering DIY a non starter.
