    Default Tell me about Bonn

I'm headed there for a week on the 6th of October, any can't miss sights or restaurants?

Brauhaus Bönnsch • Restaurant, Events & Brauhaus - Home

Mediocre Kölsch-style beer in an ergonomic glass!

My advice would be "go to Cologne". Drink a lot of Päffgen, repeat.

Darn, this seems to be the most common answer. Unfortunately my time table is pretty tight, I don't know that I'll make it to Cologne. The highlight of my Bonn trip may be a visit to Haribo.

Cologne: where they believe in the dear lord God, and want to keep on drinking!

Any mention of Cologne requires a little De Höhner.

Köln isn't that far away and the trains run frequently. The station in Köln is right near the Dom and one of the main shopping areas.

There was an Irish Pub in Bad Godesburg which was pretty decent and it appears to still be there (Mick's Place, Michaelplatz 3). It's been 20 years since I was in Bonn so there's no telling what it's like now though. I tried finding one restaurant that had great German food and struck out - I can't recall the name but I remember the area where it was and google wasn't any help.

If you're a history fan Remagen is about 20km south. There's a small museum in what remains of the Ludendorff bridge. If you had the time and could find a bike to rent you could ride the whole way down next to the Rhine.

    Früh was my favorite Kölsch.
Eat one live toad first thing in the morning and nothing worse will happen to you all day.

Bonn is a bit of a government town, but you can have fun. I know a girl who can ride a road bike like a boss in that town. If you're looking for a ride, let me know!

Government is my reason for being there.

A ride you say? I'd love to, but I don't think its in the cards. I do have free baggage though....

I have Friday (11th) afternoon off. I may have to do just that!

Visited the above brewery with their tiny 25cL ergo glasses. The beer was good, not world changing, but definitely good. I very much appreciate the variety of beer available to me in the United States.
