    Default Bottom Bracket Shell Advice

    Hi All,

I'm a long term lurker and (as far as I remember) first time poster. I'm deciding on a bottom bracket shell for my new build and want to keep things nice and simple apart from my aim to accommodate wide 650B tires (42mm Grand Bois Hetres). I want to avoid bending my chain stays and will be going for a ROR CS in a lugged BB shell.
I’m hoping for some advice on a BB shell that has the CS sockets nice a close to the edge of the shell?

    Cheers

    Rob

I frequently use PCD lugged BB shells with straight ROR c/s and they have their ports close to the edge of the shell-- but for this tire width, I think I'd be ready to bend the c/s a few degrees. In my experience, a 42mm tire is pretty wide for a straight c/s (unless they are unusually long.)

If you don't want to bend or dimple, you don't want a ROR. Try some oval or single bend stays (and you still may end up dimpling depending on the CS length).
