    Default Frame Dimensions and Tolerances

As this is my first post, I would first like to say how impressed I am with all of the work and skill I have seen from individuals on this forum. I humbly ask what may be a stupid question:

I am currently involved in a project involving prototyping composite folding bicycles. After searching online and on this forum, I have been unable to find dimensions for different aspects of a frame. For example, for a head tube to accept press-fit cups for an 1 1/8 headset, what is the nominal ID and tolerance? Is there a readily available resource or documented standard for these types of dimensions (dropouts, BBs, seat tube ID)? I know it's no accident that well made bicycle frames fit together and interface with components well.

    Thanks for any input.

Chris King supplies dimensions and tolerances for their headsets in their printed owners manuals.

Start with this Sutherland's Bicycle 7th Edition

It won't answer everything you want to know, but it is the closest thing the industry has to a standard, I think.

You are in the right place for the rest.

Gluing aluminum bits for now (dropouts, head tube, seat tube, etc.)
