Compared with your other one it'll feel like driving a '65 Beetle. Good thing it's pretty.

Not sure if this has been posted here yet, but many seem to have extra time on their hands.

Heavy Porsche content...has anyone see No Man's Land? It's my favorite car/Porsche movie of all time.

DB Sweeny, Randy Quaid, Charlie Sheen (yup), and a ton of ze German beauties. What's not to like?

    Enjoy.

    Probably.

That said it doesn't mean it is a bad idea. It has become increasingly hard with modern sports cars and the current level of traffic (I mean pre covid-19) to have any sort of spirited driving on open roads. Push the trottle for 4 seconds and you are already at the back of the next car in front of you or reached insane speed. Wants to feel the edge of the mechanical grip? You have to take corners at a speed that leaves you without any kind of margin of error.

Someone in my wife's family has an '87 targa. It's mint. It's beautiful. It's fun to drive as a novelty. But I'd take most any modern sporty car over it for actual driving. Even with traffic.

An 87 targa is nowhere near a 993 though, the 3.2 drives like a very old car (drove one about 9 months ago). I recently drove a C2 964 and it was really great (car was beautifully restored). Of course in terms of pure performance my 991.2 GT3 leaves it in the dust but the goal is very different. It's pure old school diving pleasure at lower speeds. But in fact a 993 can still haul ass.

It's not so much the amount of traffic around here but the potential of a speed trap at any corner that worries me.

    > is all relative. For these old ladies I think the car condition is the number 1 thing to consider. I am also looking at some 964 and also some cabriolets (in both 993 and 964). When I say looking, I mean looking online and chatting with sellers. May 11th is the date where we should be able to move around here.

I see 993 as the prior peak...it is the most refined "old" p-car

Clearly that's true. Last air-cooled, more reliable (like very reliable), still small. I like it too :)

The big 917 on the sides and front seems to be leading the witness a bit much. Give the aficionado the chance to identify it as it goes by!

Hey if you need to drive around with your hair on fire, why not actually light it on fire?

We both know that 9 out of 10 Veesalonistas would have that thing painted in Gulf livery. But which number?

Here is my old red open air Porsche - all 15 hp or so.

Unfortunately, my mother sold it when she sold the farm.
