    Got to CA yesterday, backing out the 911 out of the garage to go to the office... Beep, beep, beep, rear left tire pressure low, 10psi..... Headed to the dealer.... We do not repair sir, Porsche would not let us, we replace, we will drop you off at your office and pick you up when it's ready.... Do you have the wheel and tire protection... The what ?.... OK it will be $450, should be ready in a couple of hours, we will hand wash it for you too..... Oh well, this was an expensive nail.

    The best time to need to replace one tire due to damage is when all 4 tires are at the end of their life. The second best time is when the tires are essentially brand new.

    No idea. It was evidently at a car show in Isaquah, WA where the guy who took the photo rides.

    I might be wrong. This looks like a one off car except modern using vintage parts. If I can find the reference, there is a guy who does this. It started as a hobby...of course.

    I don't think anyone will entertain repairing modern high performance car tires these days... Although $450 for a tire on a $100k car is comparable to a $100 tubular on a $12,000 Pinarello... Plus you get a nice coffee, and valet service into the bargain...?

    Right, and they do this fast with no fuss. Not a bad service actually.

    That ain't nuttin' honey. You can roast a full set of tires in two days of doing hot laps at the track. Not that there is anything wrong with it.

    Like you say, nothing wrong with that, but as great as a modern 911 is, its heavy for a track car, and you'll likely soon toast the brakes as well. If you're doing that regularly, its time to consider a track car. I used to get about a dozen or more track days out of the tires on this. Photo from about 10 years ago, when I drove it from the UK to Spa, did two full days on track and then drove it home again. Luckily (for a trip to Belgium) it didn't rain :-)

    Nice Chrisn. Great car. The events I am doing are mainly all Porsche which makes for excellent learning. Brakes pads will last a full AX season but you are right if I were doing DE mainly I would go thru pads like water. The 911 is a very durable race car you can drive alot!. I might keep this one.
