    Default 100 Practice Miters

I wanted to further develop my mitering technique, so I purchased 4 top-tubes and went to work. This resulted in 100 mitered joints. The good thing about doing these as a practice exercise is that I could try different things to learn worked best for me, even intentionally mess-up a miter and then see what was needed to correct it. I learned quite a bit in doing this, and developed a repeatable process that produces consistent results. My future frames should be better for it.

    Thanks for looking.

Between you and Pi Guy (it is Pi Guy, right? The guy who's building 10 frames and hacking them apart as his learning process) we've got the OCD learner segment covered. That's a good thing, I'm not nearly OCD enough, and I'm definitely a learner.

What process are you using - hacksaw and file, paper templates, etc?

If anyone wants to satisfy their inner practice need, pacenti has straight gage tubing on sale for $2 per tube. Ill bet that's $1 per foot shipped.

Todd – You guessed it; templates, a hacksaw, and files.

It looks like you could make a pretty interesting wall piece if you could find a way to mount them.

I used 1.2mm (18swg) 1 1/8" mild steel rolled tube for practice pieces, which worked out only slightly cheaper than Pacenti's tubes here. Damn that is cheap!

The next step would be to make practice joint trees, triangles and little bike-esque objects. Fun fun fun!

Yup, that's me, but I only had lugs for 6 frames. Overall my OCD-ness with frame building has been very helpful. I think it can, at times, make things take longer than they need to though. Sometimes I just need to set it and forget it. Thanks for the shout out!
